In my last post I mentioned I wanted to take art classes. I finally found a place where I could take painting classes - in watercolors.
The studio is called "The Loaded Brush" and my instructor is Peter X. O'Brian.
My first painting was a mountain landscape.
The yellow dots are a mastic that you remove when you are ready to add the flowers in those spots.
Two weeks later I went back and took with me my "semi- reluctant" baby sister, Sandy. We had so much fun painting our Beach Sand Dunes scenes.
On February 6th I went back for another painting lesson and took my dear friend Robyn with me to paint "The Elephant".
I started off with a pastel undercoat and finished it off with warm colors adding in darker hues for the shadows and adding details on the head and trunk.
Robyn chose to do her beautiful elephant in sapphire blue.
Darryl framed the finished product the day after I painted it.
I love painting with watercolors. It's so different from painting with oils and I love how quick the piece is finished and the softness of the colors. I enjoy so much learning the new techniques. I am excited for my next lesson.
